Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 329 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 329 features a five-round welterweight rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway. These two first met in 2013, back when they were fighting at featherweight, with McGregor winning a unanimous decision that night. Now, 13 years later, they meet once again, only this time they are fighting at 170 lbs. Also, McGregor has not fought in five years, so he enters this bout off a long layoff, and it’s hard to know just how he will look when he steps into the Octagon. As for Holloway, he is coming off a lopsided decision loss to Charles Oliveira in his last fight, but it was a grappling-based bout. This rematch will be interesting to see how it plays out, but given Holloway has been far more active in recent years, he is the clear favorite to win this fight according to the oddsmakers.
- In the co-main event, we have a battle of UFC lightweight contenders when Benoit Saint Denis fights Paddy Pimblett. Saint Denis has won four fights in a row by finish, while Pimblett is coming off a decision loss to UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje. This should be a very fun lightweight bout between two of the best in the world at 155 lbs, but given Saint Denis’ hot streak, he enters this bout as the betting favorite to get his hand raised.
