Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Qatar Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Qatar is a five-round lightweight bout between Arman Tsarukyan and Dan Hooker. Tsarukyan is riding a four-fight win streak, but he hasn’t fought since a split decision win over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300 in April 2024. As for Hooker, he has won his last three fights, and he has not fought since UFC 305 in August 2024. Both Tsarukyan and Hooker are two of the top lightweights in the UFC, but given that Tsarukyan should have the wrestling advantage in this bout, he has earned his status as the betting favorite here.
- The co-main event features Ian Machado Garry battling Belal Muhammad in a welterweight matchup. Machado Garry has a 9-1 record in the UFC, and he is coming off an impressive decision win over Carlos Prates in his last outing. As for Muhammad, he is the former UFC welterweight champion, and he lost his belt in his last fight to Jack Della Maddalena by decision. While Muhammad has long been one of the top welterweights in the UFC, he is really getting up there in age at this point, and it makes sense that Machado Garry is favored.
