Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC 321 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC 321 features UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall taking on Ciryl Gane. Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champion after former champion Jon Jones retired. He has won his last three fights in a row, and outside of an injury TKO loss, he hasn’t tasted defeat inside the Octagon. Gane, meanwhile, has won his last two fights in a row. For the most part, he has had a great run inside the Octagon, and he makes for a formidable challenger for Aspinall. That being said, you have to favor the champion to retain his title here.
- The co-main event is a heavyweight bout between Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almeida. Volkov is coming off a split decision to Gane in his last fight, although many people thought he should have won the fight. That loss snapped a four-fight win streak for Volkov, who would have fought for the belt on this card against Aspinall had the judges sided with him that night. As for Almeida, he has won his last two fights following his only loss in the UFC to Curtis Blaydes. Still, he is one of the best heavyweights in the UFC. This striker vs. grappler bout promises to be a great fight, with the winner earning the next heavyweight title shot.
