Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 86:
- In a welterweight bout, Michael Oliveira takes on Victor Valenzuela. Oliveira comes to DWCS from LFA, where he won his last six fights in a row. He is undefeated in his MMA career, with all but one of his victories coming by way of knockout. As for Valenzuela, he enters DWCS after stints in both LFA and Fury FC. He has won his last six fights in a row, and he has been looking great as of late. While Valenzuela is on a roll right now, it’s hard not to go with Oliveira to win this fight, just given that he’s never lost in his career.
- In light heavyweight action, we have Freddy Vidal taking on Levi Rodrigues. Vidal fought earlier this season on DWCS, when he beat Felipe Franco by third-round submission. However, he did not earn a contract as he missed weight, and overall, it was a bad fight. Still, UFC president Dana White gave him another fight this season to prove his worth. Now, he takes on Rodrigues, who went 3-0 in LFA. This looks like a step up in competition for Vidal, and as good a story as his first win was, this second fight is likely to be much more challenging. The oddsmakers opened up Vidal as the favorite, but the line flipped.
