Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 74:
- This week’s edition of DWCS features five fights as usual, including a light heavyweight bout between Diyar Nurgozhay and Bartosz Szewczyk. Nurgozhay has a perfect 9-0 record in MMA which includes a notable knockout win over former PFL standout Emiliano Sordi in his last bout for UAE Warriors. As for Szewczyk, he is a Polish fighter who has also previously fought for UAE Warriors. Both of these fighters typically finish their fights, so there could very well be a finish in this fight. Nurgozhay is the betting favorite entering the match due to his unbeaten record and higher level of competition, but Szewczyk is of course a live dog in this fight too.
- Also on the card, we have Alberto Montes taking on Carlos Calderon. Montes is a Combate veteran as well as a veteran of Titan FC, and he is another interesting addition to the DWCS roster for this season. He has won his last two fights in a row and looks to be a solid prospect. As for Calderon, he has fought for Combate as well as LFA. He also enters this fight on a two-fight win streak, so both fighters have momentum entering this match. This looks like a well-matched fight, but with Calderon taking this bout on short notice, Montes opened up as a big favorite here.
