Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 55:

  • Headlining this week’s Contender Series is a middleweight bout between Brunno Ferreira and Leon Aliu. Ferreira turned pro in 2019 and since then he is 8-0 with all of his victories coming by finish. As for Aliu, he is 10-1 and he has fought for promotions such as Cage Warriors and Brave CF. Ferreira opened up as the favorite here due to his unbeaten record that is filled with brutal finishes, but Aliu’s experience could be something that tilts the bout in his favor. Either way, it should be an interesting fight to watch what happens.
  • Also on the card is a bantamweight bout between Mando Gutierrez and Raul Rosas Jr, who is only 17 years old. If he gets signed to the UFC, he would be the youngest fighter in the promotion. As it stands now, Rosas Jr. is already 5-0 as a pro since making his debut last year, with all of his victories coming by way of stoppage. His level of opposition has been poor so far, but there’s no doubt he has a ton of potential given his age. His opponent Gutierrez is 25 years old and he’s 7-1 as a pro, with plenty of experience fighting for LFA. The odds for this fight opened up with Gutierrez as the favorite, but it flipped quickly in the favor of Rosas Jr.
