Dana White’s Contender Series 50 takes place on Tuesday, August 16 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The offshore sportsbooks recently opened up the betting odds for the event, and MMAOB staff writer Adam Martin takes a look at the opening odds below.

Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 50

Esteban Ribovics -250
Thomas Paull +210

Ivan Valenzuela -190
Claudio Ribeiro +160

Jack Cartwright -400
Jose Johnson +330

Hailey Cowan -155
Claudia Leite +135

Nazim Sadykhov -150
Ahmad Hassanzada +130

Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 50:

  • The main event of DWCS 50 features Esteban Ribovics taking on Thomas Paull in a lightweight contest. Ribovics is an unbeaten prospect who is 10-0 in his MMA career to date. The 26-year-old Argentina native turned pro in 2015 and ever since then he has finished everyone who has stood before him inside the cage. As for Paull, he is a 27-year-old Brit who has won his last three fights by knockout heading into his Contender Series debut. Both fighters have a lot of knockouts on their resumes and this fight is unlikely to see the scorecards. Given that Ribovics is unbeaten in his MMA career, he deserves to be favored to win again, but Paull is a solid prospect and shouldn’t be counted out of winning.
  • Also on the card is a middleweight bout between Ivan Valenzuela and Claudio Ribeiro. Valenzuela is a 29-year-old Mexico native who has won his last five fights in a row heading into his DWCS debut. Ribeiro, meanwhile, is a 30-year-old Brazilian fighter who enters this bout off of a five-fight win streak. This is another fight that is unlikely to go the distance based on how many finishes each fighter has in their career. Valenzuela opened as the betting favorite, but once again you can’t count the underdog out of winning this fight.
