Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for LFA 139:

  • The main event of LFA 139 is a lightweight bout between Adam Asssenza and Junior Melo. Assenza is a Canadian MMA veteran who has been a pro since 2011, so he has been fighting for a long time. He is currently riding a six-fight win streak and if he can win this fight, he might get the call-up to the UFC. As for Melo, he is coming off of a win in LF in his last fight and overall he has won five of his last six fights, although his level of competition hasn’t been as high as Assenza’s. The bookies opened up Assenza as the betting favorite for this fight, but Melo is certainly an intriguing prospect himself.
  • Also on the card is a flyweight bout between Tony Laramie (brother of former UFC fighter TJ Laramie) and Rodney Kealohi. Laramie is currently riding a four-fight win streak, including a victory in LFA in his last year, and will be looking to follow in his brother’s footsteps to reach the UFC. As for Kealohi, he is an LFA veteran who has fought some solid competition during his MMA career, but he’s lost his last two fights. Just based on Laramie being on a winning streak, he opened up as the betting favorite for this fight.
