Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC on ABC 3 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC on ABC 3 is a five-round featherweight bout between top-five ranked fighters Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez. Ortega is coming off of a “Fight of the Night” decision loss to champion Alexander Volkanovski in his last bout, but before that, he had a career-best performance against The Korean Zombie. As for Rodriguez, he is coming off of a decision loss to Max Holloway but it was a very competitive bout despite him being a huge underdog in the fight. Ortega vs. Rodriguez should be a very competitive fight, but with Ortega holding the grappling advantage on paper, the oddsmakers opened him up as the favorite.
- As for the co-main event, it’s a women’s strawweight bout between Amanda Lemos and Michelle Waterson. Lemos was submitted by Jessica Andrade in her last fight but had won five straight bouts prior to that. As for Waterson, she is coming off of a decision loss to Marina Rodriguez. Although Waterson has more experience, Lemos appears to be more in her prime at this point of both fighters’ careers despite only being one year younger on paper, and she opened up as a sizable betting favorite here.
