Here are my quick thoughts on the PFL Challenger Series 6

  • This week’s PFL Challenger Series features heavyweights. In the main event, former UFC fighter Bevon Lewis moves up to heavyweight to take on Marcelo Nunes. Lewis hasn’t fought since November 2020 when he suffered a TKO loss to Trevin Giles in his final UFC fight. Since then, he has decided to skip 205lbs completely and move up two weight classes to heavyweight. It will be interesting to see how he looks in his new weight class. At one point in time, Lewis was a top prospect at 185lbs, but it feels like that was so long ago. In his heavyweight debut, Lewis takes on Nunes, a longtime pro who has competed for the likes of Legacy FC (before it was LFA) and CFFC. Interestingly enough, he also used to be a heavyweight but now fights at middleweight. This fight can honestly go either way, but due to Lewis having the bigger name he is the one who opened up as the betting favorite.
  • In the co-main event, Brett Martin takes on Giacomo Lemos. Martin is one of the best heavyweights not signed to a major promotion and he should be one of the frontrunners to land the PFL contract. Lemos is unbeaten and packs a big punch, but this is Martin’s fight to lose, and it’s not a surprise at all to see him open as one of the card’s biggest favorites.
