Here are my quick thoughts on the UFC Vegas 41 Opening Odds:
- The main event of UFC Vegas 41 is a five-round middleweight bout between top contenders Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori. Costa hasn’t fought in over a year since a TKO loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 253 last September. It was a terrible performance by Costa, but it was also the first career loss he suffered and he said he was hungover from drinking too much wine the night before. It will be interesting to see if he bounces back here against Vettori following that defeat. However, he has his hands full with Vettori. Although Vettori is coming off of a loss to Adesanya as well, he at least went the distance and fought hard in that contest. This is a close fight on paper but Vettori at plus money could be the right side here as the better grappler.
- The co-main event is a lightweight bout between Grant Dawson and Ricky Glenn. Dawson has been on a roll with five straight wins in the UFC. As for Glenn, he recently returned from a long layoff with a big KO win over Joaquin Silva. While Glenn did look good in that fight, Dawson’s superior grappling makes him the clear favorite to win this fight according to the bookies.
