Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 130:

  • The main event of Cage Warriors 130 is a 165lbs catchweight bout between UFC veteran Spike Carlyle and Bellator veteran JJ Ambrose. This was originally set to be a lightweight fight between Ambrose and Kyle Driscoll, but after Driscoll was forced out of the fight, Caryle stepped up on short notice to take the fight. After going 1-2 in the UFC and getting cut, Carlyle has won both of his fights on the regional scene since then. If he can put up a few more wins, it’s possible the UFC could bring him back for a second run. As for Ambrose, he is a very experienced veteran who has over 40 MMA fights and he’s on a five-fight win streak. However, he has not fought in two years, and I believe that inactivity will hurt him here against Carlyle.
  • The co-main event features former UFC lightweight prospect Max Rohskopf against Jordan Bailey. Rohskopf was cut by the UFC after quitting on the stool against Austin Hubbard but he bounced back with a win in Cage Warriors back in August. As for Bailey, he hasn’t fought since a 2018 loss to UFC veteran Tyson Griffin. This looks like an easy fight for Rohskopf on paper.
