Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Dana White’s Contender Series 38:

  • We are back for the second episode of the latest DWCS. In the first episode last week, Dana White signed five fighters to a UFC contract, and you can expect more to be signed Tuesday.
  • In the main event, Josh Quinlan takes on Logan Urban in a welterweight bout. It’s worth noting that Urban is stepping up on very short notice after Darian Weeks was forced out due to COVID-19 protocols. Quinlan is an undefeated 28-year-old prospect who is a perfect 5-0 since turning pro in 2019, with all five of his wins coming by stoppage. His last three fights came in LFA. As for Urban, he is 27 years old and 5-1 with all five of his pro wins coming by stoppage. Both guys look like good prospects but Quinlan is the one who has had the full camp.
  • Also on the card, Muin Gafurov takes on Chad Anheliger in bantamweight action. The 26-year-old Gafurov is a ONE Championship veteran who has wins over the likes of UFC vets Leandro Issa and a loss to John Lineker. As for Anheliger, the Canadian is 34 years old and he is coming off of a TKO win over current UFC fighter Brady Hiestand in his last fight. Although Anheliger is a solid fighter, Gafurov seems like a difficult matchup, which is why he’s favored.
