Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds for Cage Warriors 122:

  • The main event of Cage Warriors 122 sees CWFC featherweight champion Morgan Charriere (16-7-1) take on Jordan Vucenic (7-1). The 25-year-old Charriere is coming off of a knockout win over Perry Andre Goodwin that won him the vacant 145lbs belt. Charriere has won his last three fights overall heading into this one against Vucenic, who has had quite a bit of success in Cage Warriors himself. The 25-year-old Vucenic has won his last five fights in a row, including a split decision nod over Paul Hughes in his last outing. Vucenic has a great record but Charriere is more experienced and has been more flashy as of late. As such, the oddsmakers opened up Charriere as the betting favorite for this featherweight title defense.
  • The co-main event sees the popular lightweight Paddy Pimblett (15-3) take on Davide Martinez (8-2). The 26-year-old Pimblett is coming off of a TKO win over Decky Dalton last March to bounce back from a decision loss to Soren Bak in a failed bid to win the vacant lightweight belt. Pimblett has plenty of experience, having defeated the likes of current UFC fighter Julain Erosa. Pimblett is the former CWFC featherweight champion but he now fights at 155lbs these days. In this matchup, he meets Martinez. The 27-year-old Italian has won his last six fights in a row heading into this matchup with Pimblett, though it’s worth noting he hasn’t fought since July 2019. This is a massive step up in competition for Martinez. The oddsmakers opened up Pimblett as a big favorite here and overall you have to agree with it. He has the pedigree and the big-fight experience and he should get the win in this fight.
  • At bantamweight, we have Brian Bouland (9-3) take on Liam Gittins (6-1). Bouland hasn’t fought since October 2019. Overall he’s 4-2 in CWFC with a notable submission loss to current UFC standout Ilia Topuria in a failed bid to become the promotion’s bantamweight champion back in 2018. Bouland takes on Gittins in this fight, who is coming off of a submission win over Josh Reed in his last outing at Cage Warriors 118. Gittins was able to bounce back from his lone career loss to Jonas Magard in that fight and he will be looking to pick up the win over Bouland here. Gittins opened up as the favorite here but the line is giving Bouland plenty of respect as well. It will be interesting to see how this fight plays out, as well as the other matchups on the card. Overall, it looks like a really solid card from Cage Warriors.
