Here are my initial thoughts on the Opening Odds For Bellator 247:

  • It should be pointed out that the main event of this card was originally set to feature Paul Daley against Derek Anderson in an intriguing welterweight bout. Unfortunately, Daley had problems stemming from a failed weight-cut and the fight was unfortunately canceled as a result of that.
  • With Daley vs. Anderson off the card, Bellator moved up a women’s flyweight bout between Jackson and Kielholtz to the main event. Jackson (11-4-1) has a 3-2 overall record in Bellator with notable wins over Anastasia Yankova and Colleen Schneider and losses to Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Valerie Letourneau. Jackson was also a contestant on season 23 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” She defeated Ashley Yoder and Irene Cabello in the house before losing to eventual winner Tatiana Suarez. Bellator soon picked her up and she’s been a staple of its flyweight division ever since. As for Kielholtz (5-2), she is a veteran of Bellator Kickboxing and has a 4-1 record as a kickboxer. In MMA, she has a 5-1 record that includes a submission win over Kristina Williams in her last fight. Jackson vs. Kielholtz isn’t a great main event by any means but it’s an intriguing bout between two of Bellator’s better women’s flyweights. This is a close fight that could go either way, but my slight lean is towards Jackson due to experience.
  • The co-main event is a middleweight out between Novenyi and Lerhouni. Novenyi (4-0) has already racked up a perfect 3-0 record inside the Octagon. Lerhouni is just 7-5 in MMA and this will be his Bellator debut. Lerhouni has lost four times by submission and Novenyi is a very dangerous submission specialist. My pick is Novenyi to win this fight by tapout.
  • Another fight on this card with a betting line sees Duncan take on Furtado in lightweight out. Duncan (6-0) is a perfect 3-0 in Bellator so far with three quick knockout wins. In fact, all six of his pro victories have come via stoppage. As for Furtado (6-3), he’s coming off of back-to-back losses. This looks like another classic Bellator set-up fight for Duncan to get another TKO win.
  • Finally, a featherweight bout between Moore and D’Anna takes place on this card. Moore (12-7) is a Cage Warriors veteran who has gone 3-3 in Bellator that includes a decision win over Son Le Binh in his last outing. As for D’Anna (7-2), he is currently riding a three-fight win streak since losing in his first fight for Bellator in 2018 by knockout. Although I feel like the line is a bit too lopsided in Moore’s favor considering both fighters aren’t household names, my lean is still for Moore to get his hand raised in this one. I just wish the line was a lot shorter.
