Five Props That Cashed Big at UFC Vegas 5

Five Props is a column featured on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here are five UFC Vegas 5 bets that cashed big based on the closing odds from across various sportsbooks.

1) Chris Gutierrez vs Cody Durden is a Draw (+8000)

Short notice replacement Cody Durden started strong against Chris Gutierrez, controlling the first round with dominant positions, but Durden began to fade and Gutierrez was able to win the second and third rounds. With all three judges scoring the first round 10-8 for Durden, the fight was ruled a unanimous draw. Durden vs Gutierrez ends in a draw was the clear prop of the night at +8000.

2) Derek Brunson wins in Round Three (+2500)

When Derek Brunson wins, he usually does it quickly, with several first round TKO victories to his credit, but that wasn’t the case on Saturday. After a competitive first round against Edmen Shahbazyan, Brunson took over in round two, nearly finishing the fight via ground and pound, and he was able put the fight away early in the third round. Brunson’s third round finish was good for a sweet +2500.

3) Jonathan Martinez wins in Round Three (+1100)

Jonathan Martinez was expected to beat Frankie Saenz, and likely by TKO, but many underestimated the veteran bantamweight’s toughness, as Saenz survived multiple knockdowns to make it to the third round, where Martinez finally put him away. Martinez in round three closed at a cool +1100.

4) Jennifer Maia by Submission (+1000)

Jennifer Maia hadn’t scored a submission victory in over six years, but that’s exactly what she did as an underdog against expected number one women’s flyweight contender Joanne Calderwood, putting her away with a first round armbar. Maia by sub paid +1000.

5) Vicente Luque wins in Round Two (+500)

Vicente Luque was expected to win against Randy Brown, but he was patient, landing a brutal knee along the fence to hurt Brown in the second round and set up a TKO finish. Luque in round two closed at +500.

A $100 parlay on these five props would have made you a multi-millionaire with $166,795,100.
