A matchup that is truly the best vs the best we are getting the undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney with his toughest test to date in challenger Vasyl Lomachenko who is trying for quite possibly the last time to become undisputed at 135 lbs.
Initially I outright favored the champion Devin Haney to retain the titles and while I still favor him it is a very close fight. Haney might have to do a lot more than just sticking to his jab which not only won him the titles last June but saw him successfully defend them in a rematch against Kambosos four months later.
Lomachenko has been a puzzle for every one of his opponents to figure out as the 35-year-old Ukrainian product is one of the very best to step into the boxing ring. He is older now but still shows flashes of his brilliance and skillset and I think a healthy Lomachenko is a problem for anyone with Haney being no exception.
I do not expect this to end any other way than on the judges scorecards as it should be a very tactical fight from start to finish. Haney has an excellent jab with distance and timing, but Lomachenko can match him pretty much everywhere it just depends how much he has left in his mid-30s.
I cannot criticize anyone with who they are backing here in this closely contested fight as Haney is one of the most talented fighters in boxing today but, I think he will have his hands full on Saturday night with a Lomachenko who is looking to cement his legacy and become undisputed.
I must take a shot on Lomachenko by decision at (+375) because I think these rounds will be incredibly close and tough to score and I really do like the value here. If a Haney by decision prop was even money I would feel more inclined take that instead, but the value is on Loma by decision for me.
Prop: Vasyl Lomachenko Wins by Decision (+375)
