UFC on ESPN 12 Prop Betting Selections

Dustin Poirier vs Dan Hooker Starts Round 3 (-130)

This is a very tough card for finding props or value in general but this prop selection has really good value. I rarely play these kinds of props but this one is too good to pass up. Poirier and Hooker are main eventing the card this weekend in what could potentially be a five-round war between two talented lightweights in a stacked division.

I personally think Dustin Poirier has the advantage in just about everywhere the fight goes – which should primarily take place on the feet in a striking affair. Poirier is one of the most violent fighters on the roster with a highlight reel of finishes. He has been out for under a year here after his loss to Khabib for the title but I think he’ll rebound here with a win.

I don’t see a quick finish happening from either fighter as neither are a one punch knockout artist. Poirier is a volume kind of fighter but does pack power behind his punches and if he hurts you he will not let up in trying to go for the finish. Hooker is good on his feet too but just not as technically sound as his opponent. Both men are tough as nails and I expect to be a “slow burn” type of fight but expect the pace to potentially quicken as both get more accustomed to how the other fights. I could see a late finish from Poirier here as his strikes and overwhelming pressure should just be too much for Hooker. The durability and willingness to be patient in both fighters should be enough to let this prop cash with the fight starting round three.

Thanks for reading and best of luck!
